Trained as a biochemist, neurophysiologist and pharmacologist, he has 18 years of experience in electrophysiology (Patch-Clamp and Multi-Electrode Arrays) and receptor pharmacology. Bruno and Daniel Bertrand made major discoveries in the field of human nicotinic acetylcholine receptors using patch-clamp technologies and fast perfusion systems. They performed extended physiological and pharmacological characterizations of the human alpha4beta2 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor revealing key mechanisms for the understanding of molecular basis leading to nicotine addiction.
Bruno Buisson is considered as a world leader in the use of Multi-Electrode Arrays in Pharmacology and Drug Discovery programs. Throughout his 6 year period, as Head of Pharmacology & Toxicology at Trophos, he enriched his experience in Drug Discovery programs targeting Central Nervous System pathologies.
