Kristian WADEL joined NEUROSERVICE in September 2009. After completing his undergraduate studies in molecular biotechnology (B.Sc.) at the Ruprecht-Karls-University in Heidelberg (Germany), Kristian entered the International Max Planck Research School for Neurosciences (M.Sc./Ph.D. program) in Göttingen (Germany).

For his Ph.D. studies, he joined the research group of Dr. Takeshi Sakaba in the department of Prof. Dr. Erwin Neher (Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine 1991 for research on single ion channels and the development of the patch-clamp technique). Kristian investigated molecular mechanisms that regulate neurotransmitter release and short term plasticity at a central synapse. Throughout his Ph.D., he received an extensive training in electrophysiology, fluorescence microscopy, calcium imaging and uncaging and in-depth data analysis. Part of his work was published in the peer-reviewed journal “NEURON”.
